Last Life: A Shakespeare Play
Written and Directed by Sara Fay George

Picture
Last Life: A Shakespeare Play was first presented in NYC in the Summer of 2018 and then at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to critical acclaim in 2019.

Last Life: A Shakespeare Play is a striking assemblage of Shakespeare's words, exploring the history of gender dynamics and relationship norms. As Kismet holds Man and Woman captive, primal and kinetic energy is created – simultaneously attracting, repelling, colliding and surrendering in an exploration of masculine vulnerability and the embracing of feminine strength, revealing the elemental and essential human truth that only our bodies are truly our own and in the end, they too must be left behind.

“Constructed with great care and imagination to tell a story of subtle tenderness mixed with harsh reality that in the end defines many of our personal relationships and lives. This is very much “Shakespeare” from a feminine point of view.”
South Side Advertiser  *****

"A genuine, sensual, carnal experience. The bard turns out sensual, erotic, electrifying, feminist, universal and relatable."
Theatre Weekly Review  ****

“ A riveting production...Forget your stereotypes of dry, stuffy Shakespearean productions: this is theatre at its hottest! “
 The Skinny Review  ****

“Worthy of sitting alongside the tales of Shakespeare’s greatest lovers. The physicality and dynamic presence of the company of three actors electrify the space and the interplay with fiery and yet sensual power; every breath charged with vibrant energy.”
Broadway Baby ****

"An astonishing feat. It is an impressive editing process to have worked through the Shakespeare cannon and then create a narrative that is dramatic and diverse in its emotional journey."

Theatre Bubble  ****

“One wonders at the skill of the performers and the writing in creating such a beautiful piece of theatre that is part dance, part drama, part physical and spiritual awakening.”

“Writer director Sara Fay George deserves full credit for her intricate and clever script as well as her imagination and precision in delivering a labour of love."

"Creative, polished and beautifully performed – an excellent show."

From the Heartland premiered on Theater Row in the 2017 United Solo Festival, the world’s largest solo theatre festival. It was then presented at Dixon Place  and it set to return in 2020 with the NY Fringe and this time Alexis Loretta Lynn James is running for president!

Yes, there’s Trump and Biden and de Blasio and Elizabeth Warren, but there is one candidate running that you might not of met yet…she’s a woman of the people, with a passion that sometimes goes awry, but man oh man can she bake. Her politics are not just cherry, nor are they blueberry, she’s apple pie through and through.  So come out, grab a slice, and let her tell you where she’s come from to be here with y’all right now, today. And you can decide what your 2020 is going to taste like.

A shocking crime story or a hilariously serious analysis of our values and ideologies? Up from Union, Missouri comes a woman on a mission to heal the nation, society, and faith in justice. Alexis James knows what she’s talking about. She has been exploited, humiliated and screwed over for a long time — now she insists on payback. And yes there will be pie.

The Stadt Elegies
Composed and conceived by Sara Fay George

Picture
This story unravels like an hourglass, as flowing sand through Rilke’s fingers. He suffers the pain of loss and the ecstasy of love. In the end he is left with an empty palm, full of words.Rainer Maria Rilke is widely recognized as one of the most lyrically intense poets and his work is often described as inherently mystical. This deep level of searching begins to touch something that is so innately human it feels as if Rilke is actually writing his words from inside of you.

In his search for solitude, he finds planes of human experience that are collective. This unity through separateness is what inspired “The Stadt Elegies” and the juxtaposition of the individual in the cityscape, searching for connection among a sea of faces.

In order to find a meaningful connection with one another we must first cultivate an intimate relationship with ourselves.

Sometimes at Night

Picture
Sometimes at Night is a new interdisciplinary performance piece formed in collaboration with installation artists, writers, musicians, visual artists, directors, painters and performers. Through the use of original text and echoes of classical work, the piece tells the epic story of three sisters and their painstaking journey towards wholeness.
Inspired by the myths, legends and folkloric stories of women throughout time, this is an exploration of what it means to rediscover the primal within.

“A true discovery in the Berlin Art Scene...

From their wounds, we are left feeling the liberation of three strong women in search of themselves and tougher skin, while we (as audience) simultaneously experience a diverse form of art in which innovation goes hand in hand with creative aesthetics.”
